Multihand Blackjack

When a hand of Multihand Blackjack commences, both the player and the dealer are dealt two cards. The cards for the player are dealt face up, while the first card for the dealer is dealt face up and the second card face down. The goal of the game is for the player’s cards to add up to a total as close to 21 without going over. After players receive their first two cards, they may continue to draw additional cards until they either hit 21, stay with a lower total, or bust (exceeding 21). If a player busts, their wager is lost immediately regardless of the dealer’s hand total.

Whenever a player is at an amount under 21, they may choose to “stay” with their current total. At that point the player’s hand is ended and no more cards can be drawn. Once a player stays with their total, it is the dealer’s turn to draw cards. The dealer is forced to continue to draw cards until their total is at least 17 or higher. The goal is to have a higher card total than the dealer without exceeding the 21 limit.

To get a game of online Multihand Blackjack started, you first need to pick the minimum and maximum wagers per table. Note that the maximum wager is per hand and not per game. So if you decide to play 5 hands in a game, you can play the maximum permissible wager for every hand. You are allowed to place as much as possible on each hand, provided you have the bankroll available to you. Once you have placed your wagers, you’re presented with 3 options: deal, clear and clear all.

If you’d like to proceed with the game as it is, simply click on the deal button. One card will be dealt to each hand that you are playing and one card will be dealt face up to the dealer. Next, your second card will be dealt face up and you will have the following options available to you: stand or hit. Note that if you exceed 21, your hand busts and you forfeit your bets to the house. However, if your hand total is less than 21 but better than the dealer’s hand total you will win. How much you win is dependent upon how much you have wagered, with blackjack paying 3 to 2.

If you have the same hand total as the dealer, regardless of how many hands you’re playing, it will be a push and your money will be returned to you. If, however your hand total exceeds that of the dealer, but does not exceed 21, you will win for every hand that beats the dealer. Important Blackjack Terminology

Hit – Draw additional cards to your hand.
Stay: Take no more cards and end your hand.
Bust: Get a hand total over 21 and lose automatically.
Hard Hand – A hard hand in Blackjack is a hand that either has no ace or has an ace with a value of 1. A queen and an 8 would be a Hard 18, while an Ace, 7 and 9 would be a Hard 17.
Soft Hand – Soft hands are hands where the Ace is valued at 11. If your first two cards were an Ace and a 6, you would have a Soft 17.
Double Down – When the player receives their first two cards and knows their initial total, they may choose to “Double Down”. By doubling down, a player doubles their bet and draws one more card to their hand, face up. After a player does a double down, no more additional cards may be drawn to their hand. If a player has performed a split, a double down can be performed on both pairs of hands.
Split – If a player is dealt a pair as their first two cards (such as 66, 99, QQ), they can choose to “split” the pair into two separate hands. An additional bet equal to the original wager will automatically be placed on the new hand, at which point both hands will then be played separately of each other. Each separate hand can be played like a regular hand of Blackjack. When splitting Aces, the player is no longer eligible to score a Blackjack (21 instant payout) on either of the two new hands. If you split Aces and receive a total of 21 on one or both of the hands and the dealer then gets a Blackjack with an Ace and face card or a 10, the player’s 21 will be declared the loser.
Insurance – Players can protect themselves from a possible dealer Blackjack by placing insurance on their hand. This is typically done when the dealer’s face card is an Ace. When insurance is selected, a bet equal to half the amount of the original wager is made that protects the original wager against the Blackjack. If the dealer does hit a Blackjack with their second card, the player wins double the insurance bet amount. If the dealer doesn’t get a two card Blackjack, the player loses their insurance bet total.
Push – When the dealer and player’s hands are of equal value of at least 17, the hand ends in a draw. The player’s bet remains on the table and a new hand is dealt.

RULES

Blackjack cards are dealt from a shoe containing a total of 6 decks with each deck containing 52 cards. After each round, the cards are freshly shuffled. Before the start of each hand, players can choose the amount of their wager by using the $1, $5, $25 or $100 chip buttons that are on the screen to select a total, and then clicking on the table to place the bet. Once the bet is in place, simply click the “Deal” button to begin the hand.

Players cannot change their bet amounts once the cards have been dealt, although additional wagers may be made throughout the hand via Double Downs, Splits and Insurance bets. The buttons needed to use these special features will only appear when the player is allowed to use the feature. For example, if the player does not have a pair as their first two cards, the Split button will not appear as an option.

Players must finish drawing cards and end their round before the dealer will reveal their face down card and draw additional cards if necessary. If both the player and dealer hit a Blackjack with their first two cards, the hand will be considered a push and the player’s original bet amount will remain on the table for the next round. If the dealer goes over 21 in their hand, they bust and all players still active in the round will win automatically.
