From mozzarella dippers to cheese toasties, the coveted ‘cheese pull’ has taken the ‘FoodTok’ world by storm. But what most people don’t know is that getting a great cheese pull is actually a fine art. So, which brand does the best job of creating the most satisfying cheese pull?
The team here at 888 Casino decided to find out by analysing the cheese pull length of 10 different brands of mozzarella sticks. We cooked each brand of mozzarella stick in both an air fryer and an oven, pulled them apart, and then measured the length of the cheese in between each half before it broke to see which brand of mozzarella stick has the best cheese pull of all.
Asda mozzarella sticks are revealed to have the longest cheese pull
With an average cheese pull length of 22.9 cm, Asda’s own brand mozzarella sticks are crowned as the nation’s best for a satisfying cheese pull. Once pulled apart, the overall length of the mozzarella stick increased by a whopping 398% from its starting length of 5.8cm.
In second place for the best cheese pull is a takeaway mozzarella stick, with an average cheese pull length of 17.6 cm. From its starting length of 9 cm, the takeaway mozzarella stick increased, on average, by an impressive 194% once pulled apart, the second highest figure of all.
Coming in third is Lidl’s own mozzarella sticks, with a cheese pull of 9.2 cm, followed by Marks and Spencer, at 7.5 cm.
Air fryer vs oven: the oven comes out on top for the best way to get a satisfying cheese pull
According to our research, the oven is the best cooking method to produce the most satisfying cheese pull.
With all the brands considered, the average cheese pull length of mozzarella sticks cooked in the oven was 17.3 cm. When cooked in the air fryer, the average cheese pull length was 15.6 cm, indicating that the oven has a slightly more cheese-melting efficiency.
Overall, we’ve discovered that Asda’s own brand leads the way in the world of satisfying cheese pulls, and the best way to achieve a delicious cheesy centre is by cooking in the oven rather than the air fryer.
So, will you try and master the art of the cheese pull yourself?
Methodology
The experiment involved 10 of the most popular brands of mozzarella sticks being cooked in two different ways (in the air fryer, and in the oven), and then pulled apart. The length of cheese in between each half was measured at the point until the pull broke apart to determine which cheese pull is the longest. A percentage increase was also calculated from the mozzarella sticks’ starting length to determine which cheese pull had the biggest relative length increase.
